CACA Delegation Attends the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Korean Cancer Association and Successfully Hosts CACA-KCA Joint Symposium

From June 25 to 26, 2026, the 52nd Annual Meeting of the Korean Cancer Association (KCA), hosted by the KCA, was successfully held in Seoul. During the conference, the CACA-KCA Joint Symposium was successfully conducted. Prof. Ying Wang, Vice President of China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), led a delegation of experts to attend the meeting in South Korea.

The 52nd KCA Annual Meeting brought together renowned experts and scholars in oncology from multiple countries, including Korea, China, Japan, the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, the Netherlands, and Austria. The conference featured 38 parallel sessions covering cutting-edge topics in basic research, translational medicine, clinical research, and practice, showcasing the latest global trends in oncology and multidisciplinary innovations.

CACA-KCA Joint Symposium: Focus on Head and Neck Tumors

During the main conference, the bilateral academic symposium jointly organized by CACA and KCA was successfully held and became a major highlight. The symposium focused on "Head and Neck Tumors," addressing frontier advances and clinical challenges in this field. The session was co-chaired by Prof. Ying Wang (Vice President of CACA) and Prof. Kyung Hwan Kim (Korea). Experts from the Chinese delegation — Prof. Chenping Zhang from Shanghai Jiaotong University School of Medicine and Prof. Xiangqian Zheng from Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital — delivered academic presentations alongside their Korean counterparts.

Prof. Zhang gave a talk titled "Reconstructive Surgery for Oral and Maxillofacial (OMF) Defects." Prof. Zheng presented on "Efficacy Evaluation of Targeted Therapy in BRAF V600E-Mutant Radioactive Iodine-Refractory Differentiated Thyroid Cancer — A Chinese Cohort Analysis from the Dabrafenib plus Trametinib Registration Study." Korean speakers Prof. Bhumsuk Keam and Prof. Chang Gon Kim delivered presentations on "Next-Generation Sequencing-Guided Nationwide Umbrella Trials in Head and Neck Tumors" and "Neoadjuvant Immunotherapy for Resectable Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma: Clinical and Translational Progress," respectively. The two sides engaged in in-depth discussions on multidisciplinary diagnosis, treatment, and research for head and neck cancers, fostering consensus and injecting new momentum into international collaboration and innovation in this field.

Strengthening Academic Cooperation and Consensus

During the meeting, Prof. Wang Ying held discussions with Prof. Han-Kwang Yang, President of the National Cancer Center of Korea, and Prof. Woo Yong Lee, President-Elect of the KCA and Prof. at Sungkyunkwan University School of Medicine. The two sides exchanged views on strengthening bilateral academic exchanges and cooperation, as well as jointly promoting the 6th and 7th Asian Oncology Society. They reached preliminary agreements, including co-hosting an online China-Korea cancer symposium this September and a dedicated CACA-KCA session during the 2026 Chinese Congress on Holistic Integrative Oncology (CCHIO) to be held in Changsha this November. Specific arrangements were mutually confirmed.

The CACA delegation's participation in this meeting further deepened academic exchanges and cooperation between CACA and oncology colleagues from various countries. Through sincere interactions and intellectual exchanges, mutual understanding and friendship were enhanced. The delegation actively contributed China's voice on the international academic stage, laying a solid foundation for future collaboration.
