Introduction

China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) is a non-governmental and non-profit organization in the field of oncology in China.
Founded in 1984, it has developed into the largest organization in cancer field with long history and great influence in China. Up to now, CACA has established local anti-cancer associations in all 31 provinces, cities, and autonomous regions across China, creating a network of 187 professional societies. With 118 organization members and over 700,000 individual members, CACA serves as a significant platform for academic exchanges, public education, promoting CACA Guidelines, and international cooperation in the field of oncology.

1.Academic Exchanges

CACA and its professional societies organize approximately 200 academic conferences, symposiums and workshops each year to promote academic exchanges.
Chinese Conference on Oncology (CCO)
CCO is the largest conference in the field of oncology with the highest academic level and the strongest influence in China. In the year of 2000, we started to launch the Chinese Conference on
Oncology (CCO) with about 2,000-3,000 participants. Since 2018, the theme of CCO is "Cancer Control, Winning in Integration" and the scale of the congress has expanded very fast. The number of participants has increased to 32,000 in Chongqing.

In 2023, CCO was renamed to Chinese Congress on Holistic Integrative Oncology (CCHIO). 2023 CCHIO will be held on November 16-19 in Tianjin, China. There will be 172 concurrent sessions including 31 branch venues in different provinces across China. Leading experts from 100 countries will attend this meeting to share cutting-edge research findings and discuss future horizons on cancer control.

International Congress of the Asian Oncology Society (AOS2024)
Organized by CACA, the 4th International Congress of the Asian Oncology Society (AOS2024) in conjunction with the 2024 CCHIO will be held on November 15-17 in Xi’an, China.

2. International Collaboration

CACA has been working closely together with global organizations and experts throughout the world to develop mutual collaboration.
Since 2022, CACA has organized 5 summits by inviting world leading experts in the field of oncology to share global achievements on cancer control as well as the latest cancer research results. More than 60 million participants from over 30 countries attended online.

CACA’s pace of international collaboration is going on.

3.Public Education

China Cancer Week, launched by CACA in 1995, is held annually during the week of April 15th.

In order to raise awareness of cancer prevention, CACA has launched various campaigns including seminars, consultations, and activities for survivors. Thousands of medical institutions and approximately 670,000 medical professionals participate each year. By now, around 800 million people have attended these events.

4.Holistic Integrative Oncology (HIO)--CACA’s Flagship English journal

CACA launched Holistic Integrative Oncology (HIO) in collaboration with Springer Nature in 2022. HIO is an open access, peer-reviewed journal on all aspects of oncology research and free of charge for authors. It has four columns: Guideline, Commentary, Review, Original article. There are over 100 leading experts from 25 countries in the editorial board, including the Nobel laureate and academicians.

In 2006, CACA established the Alliance of Cancer Journals that includes 35 journals, five of which have been indexed by SCI.

5. CACA Guidelines for Holistic Integrative Management of Cancer (CACA Guidelines)

From 2022 to 2023, CACA organized over 13,000 leading experts to compose CACA Guidelines. As the first guidelines on cancer control in China, it includes 53 types of cancer and 60 techniques of diagnosis and treatment. The guidelines contain more than 10 million characters and were published in both English and Chinese. Meanwhile, it has been translated into 16 different languages.

A Tour Lecture
CACA promotes the use of CACA Guidelines among Chinese doctors. From 2022 to 2023, CACA has organized a tour lecture with a total of 100 events held. The lecture tours cover 31 provinces across China. In total, the tour distance is 135,000 km, and the number of participants has reached to 2.6 billion onsite and online.

Promote CACA Guidelines to Hospitals
To promote CACA Guidelines to hospitals throughout China, CACA has organized more than 50 professional societies to conduct more than 2,000 training courses for local doctors across the country.

Promote CACA Guidelines to Universities

In order to advance medical education on oncology, keep pace with academic frontiers, and promote Universities on cultivating high-quality talents by applying the latest knowledge. CACA has cooperated with 222 Universities in China to promote CACA Guidelines in classes and libraries.

Issue CACA Guidelines Certificates
In order to encourage doctors to learn and apply CACA Guidelines in clinical practice, CACA has compiled a test book which includes 46,500 questions & answers for doctor training. Those doctors who have passed the examination can be issued with qualified certificates. Until 2023, 12,359 doctors have been issued with certificates.
