On July 23, 2026, the 2026 China-Italy Anti-Cancer Summit was successfully held online. It was organized by the China Anti-Cancer Association, Alliance Against Cancer (ACC), International Alliance for Personalized Medicine (IAPM), and World Association for Integrative Oncology (WAIO). The summit was broadcast live in both Chinese and English, attracting viewers from China, Italy, Romania, Switzerland, Austria, France, Slovenia, Greece, and other countries.

The summit was opened by Prof. Wang Ying, Vice President of CACA. It was co-hosted by Prof. Pan Kaifeng, Director of Cancer Epidemiology at Peking University Cancer Hospital, and Prof. Denis Horgan, Secretary General of the International Cancer Patient Coalition.

Keynote Speeches: In-Depth Analysis of Clinical Research and New Cancer Burden Data

Prof. Fan Daiming, President of CACA, gave a report on "Development of Holistic Integrative Management of Cancer in China." He explained the innovative ideas behind Holistic Integrative Medicine (HIM) in China and put forward the core principle: "Unity brings strength, care for all, and perseverance from start to finish." He also shared practical efforts by the Association to promote integrative medicine and introduced the CACA Guidelines for Holistic Integrative Management of Cancer, which are tailored to China's national conditions.

Prof. Ruggero De Maria, President of the ACC, spoke on "Building a National Cancer Research Network in Italy and Europe: Activities and Priorities of Alliance Against Cancer." He shared Italy's practical experience in setting up national and European-level cancer research networks, covering basic research translation, clinical trial coordination, and data sharing. His talk gave participants a broad view of cancer research in Europe.

Prof. Tang Lili, Director of Department of Psycho-Oncology at Peking University Cancer Hospital, presented on "Psycho-Oncology Care Studies Based on Virtual Communities." She explored new ways to support cancer patients in the digital age and shared her team's practice of psychological intervention through online community platforms. She stressed that psychological care should be part of the entire cancer treatment process, providing patients with full humanistic support.

Prof. Daniela Chieffo, Associate Professor of Catholic University of the Sacred Heart, Medicine and Surgery, introduced the "ON COME Project Oncology Network and Communication on the Mind-Body-Environment Relationship”. She presented innovative work combining oncology, psychology, and environmental factors, and highlighted the importance of body-mind-environment interactions and artificial intelligence in cancer prevention and treatment.

Roundtable Discussion: Building Consensus for a Global Anti-Cancer Blueprint

During the roundtable discussion, experts talked about the opportunities and challenges in China-Italy cancer collaboration. They discussed topics such as the systematic approach of integrative medicine, the deep integration of psychology and psychosomatic medicine in cancer care, and the new possibilities that AI brings to personalized medicine. The discussion was rich and productive. All agreed that the concept of integrated cancer management aligns well with the development goals of both countries. China and Italy have strong complementary strengths in cancer prevention and treatment, and this summit marked an important step from mutual interest to practical cooperation. In the future, both sides plan to deepen collaboration in joint research, guideline exchange, and AI applications, contributing wisdom and strength to the global fight against cancer.
