On May 21, 2026, the 2026 China-Bulgaria Anti-Cancer Summit, co-hosted by China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), the Bulgarian Alliance for Precision and Personalized Medicine (BAPPM), and World Association for Integrative Oncology (WAIO), was successfully held. The summit attracted audiences from countries including China, Bulgaria, Belgium, Romania, Greece, Turkey, Serbia, Croatia, Russia, and Ukraine.
The conference specially invited Prof. Wang Ying, Vice President of CACA, to deliver an opening remarks, and was co-moderated by President of BAPPM and Prof. Liang Jie from Xijing Hospital of Digestive Diseases.
Keynote Speeches Shared Anti-Cancer Achievements
Academician Fan Daiming, President of CACA, delivered a keynote speech titled “Development of Holistic Integrative Management of Cancer in China,” systematically elaborating on the innovative concepts of Holistic Integrative Medicine (HIM) in oncology. He put forward the core principles of “uniting efforts to benefit all patients and maintaining consistency from start to finish,” shared the practical explorations of CACA in implementing HIM, and highlighted CACA guidelines, which are tailored to China’s national conditions.
Prof. Natalia Chilingirova, Chairman of the Bulgarian Scientific Society for Oncopharmacology and Oncology, provided an in-depth interpretation on the topic “Interdisciplinary Tumor Board (ITB-the Core of Informed Decision Making in Precision Oncology,” analyzing its core value in improving the quality of clinical decision-making.
Prof. Zhang Yi, Vice Dean of the Academy of Medical Sciences at Zhengzhou University, shared “Progress in Clinical Research of Celluar Immunotherapy for Solid Tumors in China,” systematically reviewing the latest research achievements and clinical translation pathways in this field in China, demonstrating the rapid growth and international influence of China in cellular immunotherapy.
Prof. Jeliazko Arabadjiev, President of Bulgarian Scientific Society of Immuno-Oncology, presented on “Development of Immunotherapy in Solid Tumors and Patients’ Access to This Treatment in Bulgaria,” introducing Bulgaria’s practical experience and the current state of patient access to immunotherapy. He called for strengthened international cooperation to promote treatment equity and resource sharing.
Roundtable Discussion Built Consensus Between China and Europe
During the roundtable discussion, experts from China and Bulgaria engaged in in-depth dialogues on hot topics such as immunotherapy for solid tumors, multidisciplinary collaboration, and the differences and complementarities between the two countries’ tumor diagnosis and treatment systems. They shared experiences, explored cooperation, and reached multiple practical consensuses. Bulgarian experts expressed a strong willingness to join future multi-center studies in China and deepen scientific research collaboration. Both sides agreed that cross-border cooperation and mutual learning should be pursued to jointly improve survival benefits and treatment accessibility for cancer patients.
Although the 2026 China-Bulgaria Anti-Cancer Summit has come to a close, the pace of anti-cancer cooperation between China and Bulgaria, and globally, will not stop. In the future, CACA will continue to work with international partners to promote the global sharing of knowledge on cancer prevention and treatment, contributing China’s wisdom and strength to the building of a global community of health for all.
