From January 22 to January 24, 2025, a global gathering of medical professionals took place in Cairo, Egypt. Invited by Professor Hesham El Ghazaly, President of the Egyptian Cancer Society(ECS), Professor Ying Wang, Vice President of the China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), led a Chinese delegation to attend the 17th Breast Gynecological & Immunooncology International Cancer Conference (BGICC). During this event, a historic moment unfolded as the China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) and the Egyptian Cancer Society(ECS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to enhance bilateral collaboration in cancer prevention, research, treatment, and patient care.

A New Chapter in Global Cooperation
The MoU was signed by Professor Ying Wang, Vice President of the CACA, and Professor Hesham El Ghazaly, President of the ECS. It represents a strategic step in fostering long-term collaboration between China and Egypt, two countries with a rich history of friendly exchanges dating back thousands of years. The two sides emphasized their shared commitment to improving cancer prevention strategies, enhancing treatment methods, and advancing research in both countries.
Professor Ying Wang expressed her confidence in the future of China-Egypt collaboration, highlighting that the MoU is just the beginning of a broader cooperation framework that will include practical initiatives such as faculty exchanges, joint academic events, clinical research, educational programs, and healthcare training. "With the support of both governments, we are committed to improving cancer prevention, treatment and research in both China and Egypt," Professor Wang said during the ceremony.
The two organizations have already laid out several initiatives as part of their partnership. As part of the agreement, the ECS will collaborate with the CACA to implement China’s successful cancer prevention and treatment strategies in the Egyptian healthcare system, and vice versa.
Looking Toward the Future
The signing of the MOU is expected to set a new precedent for international cancer care cooperation. As both nations continue to work together, they will play a crucial role in advancing the global fight against cancer. The cooperation between CACA and the Egyptian Cancer Society is not only an important milestone in their bilateral relations but also a significant contribution to the broader global effort to combat cancer.
