The 4th International Congress of the Asian Oncology Society (2024AOS) in conjunction with the Chinese Congress on Holistic Integrative Oncology (2024CCHIO) was successfully held on November 15-17 in Xi’an, China. Co-hosted by the China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) and Asian Oncology Society (AOS), 2024AOS united leading experts from across Asia under the theme “Integration for Modernity.”
The opening ceremony was hosted by Prof. Ying Wang, Secretary General of AOS and Vice President of CACA. Prof. Daiming Fan, Congress President of 2024AOS, President of AOS, and President of CACA, delivered a welcome speech highlighting the conference’s focus on fostering regional collaboration in cancer research, prevention, and treatment. Prof. Kazuhiro Yoshida, former AOS President, concluded the progress AOS has achieved in the past years and emphasized on the importance of the congress as a platform for accelerating innovation and collaboration in the oncology field.
One of the highlights of the opening ceremony was the issue of Jin-Pok Kim Memorial Award. This year, the award was presented to Prof. Yoshida for his outstanding contributions to oncology. After the awarding ceremony, Prof. Yoshida gave a keynote speech on “Art, Science, Humanity as a surgical oncologist“.

2024AOS included plenary session, travel grant sessions, oral sessions, and e-poster presentations. The theme of the plenary session was “Progress and Perspective of Asian Cancer Control”. Eight speakers from different countries have made excellent presentations in this session. The travel grant sessions and oral sessions have attracted more than 50 young scholars from 15 countries to share their recent research progress focusing on key topics such as cancer prevention, precision medicine, and innovative therapies. Thirty-six experts from China and abroad have served as chairpersons for these sessions and given in-depth remarks. The e-poster presentation which displayed 135 abstracts spanning diverse oncology disciplines has fostered dynamic exchanges on the latest advancements in oncology. These sessions provided an invaluable platform for emerging scholars to exchange their academic achievements.

2024AOS has enhanced scientific exchange in various oncology disciplines, provided new insights in cancer prevention and treatment, fostered international collaboration in cancer research and clinical practice, and advanced cancer control throughout and beyond Asia. The congress has successfully set the stage for continued progress in addressing the global cancer challenge as the common pursuit of all.
