“National Cancer Week”, is one of the large-scale science popularization activities of Chinese Anti-cancer Association (CACA), held for one week from April 15 to 21 each year across the country. Since 1995, the activity has been successful held in 16 consecutive years.

　　The 17th National Cancer Week will be launched in Fuzhou, Fujian province on April 15, 2011. “The Science of Cancer Control, The Care for People’s Life”, the theme embodies the spirit of the activity. It will guide the public to pay attention to cancer and cancer patients, which may enable them to view properly on carcinogenesis, prevention and treatment, so as to advocate a healthy lifestyle, promote the standard treatment and improve the living quality of cancer patients. And moreover, people from all works of life will be mobilized to provide a comprehensive support to cancer patients, including information support, emotion support, belonging and material support, strengthening cancer patients’ confidence.

　　During the week, a series of science popularization activities, such as lectures of science popularization, pictures, Q&A, free consultancy, etc. will be widely put into practice by the professional commission affiliated to CACA, local anti-cancer associations and communities. Patients will be organized to study the prevention and treatment of cancer, exchange experiences of recovery and take exercises, which may be beneficial to confidence cultivation. The mass media will be fully used in creating an atmosphere of scientific anti-cancer by holding interview with experts, publishing articles written by experts and organizing consensus meetings involved experts, patients and the media. At that time, CACA will circulate theme-promoted pictures to the public, edit brochures of science popularization, and publish weekly promotion magazines. In order to reach more people, a special promotion column for the Week is indispensable.

　　A lot of provinces will join the Week with their own characteristics.

　　Fujian Province Anti-Cancer Association will conduct activities in the May 1st Square, Fuzhou and science museum in Fujian province, with the subheading of “standard treatment—crux of the matter”, leading the public to know cancer, focus on cancer prevention and treatment, and care for cancer patients. People, such as volunteers and recovery patients with breast cancer, etc will be organized to perform body exercises beneficial to recovery.

　　Shan Xi Province Anti-Cancer Association will ask anti-cancer stars coming from each of its subordinate health coaching station to communicate with patients face to face, sharing their anti-cancer experiences. Each station will separately conduct activities, such as Q&A.A meeting honoring anti-cancer stars will be encompassed in Tianjin Anti-CancerAassociation, and web video frequency interview can be watched through Renmin.com, Souhu.com and Northern.com, etc.

　　Heilongjiang Province Anti-Cancer Association will conduct a series of science popularization activities, namely: “Health knocks on the door with spring breeze”, “Health family station”，”On-line famous doctors relieve your worry”, “Healthy drugstores protect your health”，”love nurtures health” . At the same time, people will enjoy performances in the square of memorial tower built for preventing flood.

　　Ji Lin Province Anti-Cancer Association will launch colorful activities, including “clearing puzzles by on-line experts of ‘East Asia Economy and Trade’ ”, “Healthy physical examination favoring people” “Trial on stopping smoking” “Competition on cancer knowledge” “Photograph match of cancer”, etc.

　　The anti-cancer association in Ningxia Hui autonomous region will go to the grass roots for a large-scale gratuitous examination, and charitable donation will be carried out to help certain patients.

　　Shanxi Province Anti-Cancer Association will take the 19th Science Month held in the same time into consideration so that combined activities will be carried out. It will organize a theme activity “Scientific anti-cancer, Pocus on Women health”, conduct the second summit forum on standard treatment of pulmonary cancer, and support gratuitous examination and consultancy practiced by countryside anti-cancer medical squads.

　　Henan Province Anti-Cancer Association will hold a conversation between doctors and patients, together with a report about anti-cancer stars and related performances. Apart from those activities, science popularization articles about some common tumor will be written and various science popularization promotions with a certain theme will be adopted in the grass roots in the light of local conditions.

　　Zhejiang Province Anti-Cancer Association will conduct a health lecture “Cherish life with scientific anti-cancer--- healthy women away from breast cancer and cervical carcinoma” and people will access to a hot-line on which experts’ consultancy is available. It has planned to invite “Zhejiang online”, a health channel, to participate in the science popularization lectures in the whole course, and to cooperate with the finance broadcast (FM95) for experts interview.

　　Hubei Province Anti-Cancer Association asks sectors where the president and the vice-president work and all municipal cities to carry out different forms of promoting activities during the Week, advocating 15th, April in each year as a gratuitous tumor examination day in the province.

　　Sichuan Province Anti-Cancer Association will organize members in a rehabilitation club to take exercises against cancer, including performances of body exercises, Tai chi sword, elastic gymnastic ball, waist drum and health regimen, etc.

　　Guangdong Province Anti-Cancer Association will conduct a series of science popularization education activities about standard treatment in tumor osseous metastasis, such as collecting excellent articles, recording DVD, editing reports and brochures. Cancer patients will exchange anti-cancer experiences.

　　Guangxi Province Anti-Cancer Association will spread tumor knowledge to grass roots. Promotions include Jogging around the Nan lake, news in special topic and news report will be put into practice.

　　Hubei Province Anti-Cancer Association will make public service films in the form of animation, appealing people to care for life. Ward mates who have recovered will enjoy performances with a theme of “Embrace spring with health”. Patients and doctors will read a proposal of “cherish life with scientific anti-cancer”.

　　Hebei Province Anti-Cancer Association will introduce a face to face communication between doctors and patients, and invite medical experts, citizens and patients to sign on the ‘World Anti-cancer Declaration”.

　　What’s more, anti-cancer association in several provinces, such as Shanghai, Chongqing, Gansu, and Guizhou, etc and some professional commissions in traditional tumor medicine, colon cancer and tumor-marker, etc will also carry out various activities---large-scale gratuitous examination and consultancy, lectures on science popularization knowledge, experts interview and media promotion.
