The Board of director meeting of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) was held in Tianjin on May 24-26. On behalf of Tianjin Municipal Party Committee of the Communist Party of China and Tianjin Municipal Government, Mr. ZHANG Gaoli, Tianjin Municipal Party Secretary received and extended his warm welcome to these foreign guests including Professor David Hill, president of UICC, Dr. Cazap Eduardo, president-elect and Prof. Gary Adams, CEO of UICC. Mr. Gou Lijun, member of municipal standing committee participated in the reception.

The officials of Tianjin Government are receiving foreign guests from UICC

　　According to Mr. Gao, cancer is posing severe thread to public health. UICC, as a NGO that committing to cancer control, has been promoting the development of global anti-cancer process. Tianjin municipal government paid close attention to the anti-cancer work in the hope of expanding cooperative relationships; enhancing cancer-control technologies; popularized the cancer knowledge and finally, improve public health condition.Prof. Hill thanked Tianjin government for its support in hosting the meeting. He briefly introduced UICC. He mentioned that that was the first time that UICC Board of Director Meeting being held in Tianjin. Tianjin made outstanding efforts in cancer prevention, treatment and education. It had gained much experience. Tianjin was the second city where UICC regional office located. He sincerely hoped that UICC and Tianjin government could make further cooperation so as to push forward global cancer-control process.

　　On the invitation of Prof. HAO Xishan, UICC Board of Directors visited CACA on May 26. Prof. WANG Ying, Deputy Sectary-General of CACA introduced CACA in detail to the foreign guests. The guests appreciated what CACA’s long support to UICC’s work. Dr. Gary Adams thanked CACA for its contribution in pushing forward the World Cancer Declaration and World Cancer Campaign. He said that CACA’s devotion in cancer control in China was setting example for the NGOs in developing countries. He also mentioned that UICC would cooperate with CACA to realize a cancer-free world.
