On February 23, 2010, Mr. Cary Adams, Chief Executive Director of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC), visited CACA on the invitation of Prof. HAO Xishan, President of CACA. The leaders of CACA met Adams with much hospitality.

　　After listening to Prof. WANG Ying’s introduction of CACA and the activities of UICC China Spoke, Mr. Adams was impressed by the progress being made in cancer and tobacco control in China. He sincerely thanked what CACA had done for UICC, especially in motivating World Cancer Day 2010 and “World Cancer Declaration”.

　　Prof. ZHANG Guangchao agreed to provide information to UICC for background knowledge of UICC’s future activities.

　　Mr. Adams briefly introduced the main tasks, public campaigns and plans of UICC. He told CACA that cancer as a severe disease had killed and would kill countless people if it had not got enough attention. What should be done is to call for immediate action and gain input from all parts of society to avoid the irrevocable economic loss caused by cancer.

　　Mr. Adams also thanked CACA for the devotion it put in promoting the 2010 World Cancer Congress in Shenzhen. They discussed the details of the congress, and are confident that this conference would be an influential global gathering of cancer related professionals.

　　After the visit, Dr. Adams visited the Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital accompanied by Prof. Hao and Prof. Wang.Mr. Adams’ visit enhanced the relationship between UICC and CACA. They will continue to work together in eliminating cancer as a life-threatening disease for future generations.
