The 1st Sino-French Cancer Symposium was held on January 18-19, 2008 at Shanghai Jiao Tong University Medical School, Ruijin Hospital. This conference was jointly hosted by Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) and the Société Francaise Du Cancer and supported by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Medical School, Ruijin Hospital. Many experts attended the meeting, including the President of CACA, Prof. Xishan Hao, the Vice-President of CACA, Prof. Daiming Fan, the General-Secretary of CACA, Prof. Guangchao Zhang, the Deputy Secretary-General, Prof. Ying Wang, the Director of Academic Department, Prof. Yuankai Shi, and a delegation of 11 French Experts led by the Vice-President and the Former President of Société Francaise Du Cancer, Prof. Serge Evrard and Prof. Jacques Robert.

On the Opening Ceremony, Prof. Xishan Hao and Prof. Jacques Robert delivered speeches mentioned that this conference focus on the latest theory of oncology, including virus carcinogenesis, epigenetics and so on. They hoped that the congress can bring all participants fruitful results and ever-lasting friendship. On behalf of the hosting organizations, Prof. Zhenggang Zhu, the President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Prof. Hongwei Li, the President of Ruijin Hospital extended their warm welcome to all the parcipants and wished the congress a great success. There were over 150 delegates from China and France and 17 academic papers were shared during the conference.
On January 19, 2008, a bilateral meeting was held between CACA and the Société Francaise Du Cancer. They reached consensus on the following matters:
1. The Sino-French Cancer Symposium will be held annually in China and France in turn. The 2nd Sino-French Cancer Symposium will be hosted in France in June 2009.
2. A delegation composed of French experts will attend the 5th Chinese Conference on Oncology which will be held in September, 2008 in Shijiazhuang Province. A special session will be organized for them
3. Further cooperation, such as two oncology laboratories, in which graduated students and doctors can receive supports.
