2022 Chinese Congress on Oncology (CCO) was successfully launched in Hangzhou

The 2022 Chinese Congress on Oncology (CCO) is successfully hosted by China Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), organized by Zhejiang Cancer Hospital, Zhejiang Anti-Cancer Association, and co-organized by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) and the Department of Medicine and Health of Chinese Academy of Engineering from November 17th to 20th in Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province.

2022 CCO is the largest and most influential academic congress in the field of oncology in China, with dozens of academicians, over 2,000 famous oncology speakers, hundreds of thousands of medical professionals, hundreds of millions of participants attending the congress through a hybrid way of onsite and online. The 2022 CCO includes 1 plenary session, 2 international symposiums, 13 special conferences and 132 concurrent sessions. The total number of submitted papers reached 17,312, with 100 excellent papers and 4,956 posters. The scale of dissemination by media is also the largest, with 623 authoritative media participating in the promotion, a total of 114 million live viewers, 7,638 reports of various activities, and 425 million readers.

The opening ceremony of the congress was unprecedented. Eight keynote speakers showed the latest clinical and research progress of oncology in China and gained wide attention. The total number of viewers of the live broadcast reached 4.28 million. The special conferences which focus on the frontier with a great number of professionals, rich content, and diverse forms, caught the eyes of participants. The professional societies of CACA organized 132 sessions, which comprehensively and systematically presented the current cutting-edge technology, the most valuable academic research, new concepts, progress, and information of tumor prevention and treatment at home and abroad. They also carried out extensive exchanges and discussions on new concepts, technologies, and methods in clinical and research hot-spots, such as tumor prevention, screening, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation with a focus on the frontiers of integrative medicine, precision medicine, and translational medicine.

There are two international symposiums successfully hosted during the 2022 CCO, including UICC-CACA session with the theme of “Fostering Collaboration for Integrated Cancer Control in Belt and Road Countries in Times of Global Health Challenges” . The event attracted 125,730 global online participants from China, USA, Switzerland, Korea, and Sri Lanka. Another international session is Sino-Australian Symposium on Cancer Care which was co-organized by Icon Group and Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Australia (CACA Australia). There are 64,304 online participants in total including China, Australia, New Zealand, India, UK, and Tunis.

In addition, in order to benefit the public, 2022 CCO emphasized on both public education and academics, and the Conference on Public Education was held during the congress, with 24.69 million people watching the live broadcast. The new book about anti-cancer was released on site; the first national digital museum of tumor prevention and treatment was launched to crack the “code” of tumor prevention and treatment; the media session was held during CCO for the first time, and the "Program of Media Interpretation on CACA Guidelines for Holistic Integrative Management of Cancer" was launched, with 13.5 million viewers of the live broadcast; famous experts in various subdivision fields of tumor gave lectures on tumor prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation; couples of academicians met with patients face to face, and carried out precise public education. The 2022 CCO Public Education Campaign started from Jiaxing in Zhejiang province on July 9th, and covered Qinghai, Sichuan, Fujian, Hubei, Heilongjiang, and other provinces during more than 200 days. The campaign delivered scientific knowledge and anti-cancer concepts to the public with a total publicity of 1.123 billion, covering more than 200 million people.

2022 CCO focused on the concept of integration, and achieved the breakthrough of the largest number of participants, the largest scale, the highest quality, and the most profound influence.

2023 CCO will be held in Tianjin and organized by Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute & Hospital. We wish the 2023 CCO will be another success.
