2012 World Cancer Day campaigns were successfully held across the country

  Feburary 4 is marked as the World Cancer Day by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC). The theme of 2012 campaign is Together It Is Possible. As the full-member of UICC, Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) actively promoted its affiliated organizations, such as 37 professional societies and 30 local anti-cancer associations, to hold various scientific and educational disseminating campaigns across the nation.

 

  Fujian Province Anti-Cancer Association held free medical check and consulting service to communities. Cancer doctors introduced the effective methods of prevention and treatment on malignant tumors, especially explaining the gastric and colorectal cancers prevention and how to use traditional Chinese medicine to treat cancers.

  Shanghai Anti-Cancer Association took advantage of media to disseminate the knowledge of cancer prevention and treatment to public. To be specific, disseminating healthy lifestyle, positive attitudes, and to be knowledgable are the three main factors to have a healthy status. Meanwhile, Hunan Province Anti-Cancer Association made a live show Hundreds of Anti-Cancer Star Interviews to disseminate the mission of early prevention, detection, and treatment.

  The Society of Chinese Traditional Medicine, CACA, jointly with Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences Guang An Men Hospital hold World Cancer Day Chinese medicine themed scientific and educational propaganda events. The events were focusing on regulating systematic treatment plans to cancer patients in terms of healthy diet, regular exercises, medicine intake, lifestyle, psychological consulting and so on.

  Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Anti-Cancer Association held themed arts performance. Approximately 200 oncological workers and cancer patients joined the events. The story of a three years old boy (suffering from neuroblastoma) was successfully cured by the Department of Chemotherapy, Baotou Cancer Hospital touched all studio audiences.

  According to the statistics, over 80 organizations including professional societies of CACA, local anti-cancer associations, academic departments, hospitals and universities participated the events. The number of Popular Science Dissemination lectures and free medical consultations has been held more than 80 and Popular Science materials were distributed more than 20,000. The experts participated were 700 plus and benefited people more than 10,000 nationwide. In addition, there were more than 100 media, including newspapers, magazines, TVs, radios, websites etc., reported this event.
