The 10th Cross-Strait Academic Conference on Oncology was successfully held by Taiwan Clinical Oncology Society and Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) on April 30 in Taipei Neihu National Defense Medical Center. With the theme of “Promoting the Quality of Cancer Management”, this conference had the participation of hundreds of experts and scholars on cancer across the straits. The vice chairman Professor Zhao Jiahong and Deputy Secretary General Professor Wang Ying from CACA led a delegation of 30 experts from the 11 provinces, municipalities and autonomous regions to attend this grand academic conference in Taiwan.

　　The chairman Professor Chen Yumin of Taiwan Clinical Oncology Society delivered a speech on behalf of the host institution in the opening ceremony of this conference. First, he extended warm welcome to the medical colleagues from mainland China and gave his gratitude for the support and coordination to the conference by CACA. He mentioned that since the first convention of Cross-Strait Academic Conference on Oncology held in Harbin in Heilongjiang Province in 1999, through the joint endeavor of academic institutions across the straits and 10-year development, it has become a vital stage for the academic exchanges, share of academic achievements and experiences between the oncology experts across the straits. Chairman Chen Yumin hoped that by the academic conferences on cancer held by both sides of the Strait, we can further enhance our mutual understanding and friendship, increase the ability on prevention and treatment of cancer and benefit for the cancer patients.

　　This seminar across the straits has invited Prof. Fan Jia, the chairman of the liver cancer society of CACA and the professor of Zhongshan Hospital Fudan University, Prof. Wang Changli, designate chairman of lung cancer society of CACA and professor of Tianjin Cancer Hospital, Prof. Ma Jun, member of the society of nasopharyngeal darcinoma of CACA and professor of cancer prevention and treatment center of Guangzhou Zhongshan University, and Prof. Chen Kexin, member of the society of cancer epidemic of CACA and professor of Tianjin Cancer Hospital to deliver lecture sessions. The academician Yang Panchi from medical college of National Taipei University, Prof. Wang Rongde from the public health research center of school of medicine, NCKU, and the Deputy Director General Professor Kong Xianlan of Bureau of Health Promotion of the Department of Health have also given excellent academic report. The experts across the straits have made profound discussion on the current progress of cancer prevention and treatment, as well as cancer incidence trend. There were active exchanges, strong academic atmosphere and heated discussions between speakers and participants in the conference, which has received sound result by exchanges and communications.

　　The 10th Cross-Strait Academic Conference on Oncology came to a successful close in the sound academic atmosphere and has established the foundation for further strengthening of academic exchanges and cooperation in the future.
