Supported by the Chinese Bureau of Disease Control in Ministry of Health, the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) launched 2011 Cancer Prevention Project “Love sparks splendid life—bright future of cancer control in China” on 8, April, 2011, after implementing a series of activities, “Dialogue with hope” in 2008, “Hope in hand” in 2009 and “Passing hope” in 2010, the Science Dissemination Department of CACA, together with the Committee of Cancer Recovery, undertook the project which was sponsored by the Roche Ltd. as well, focusing on cancer screening, early detection, standard treatment and public education. People who attended the launching ceremony included Prof. Hao, President of CACA, Prof. Liangyou Wu , Chief of the Bureau of Chronic Disease Control of China, Prof. Guangchao Zhang, General Secretary of CACA, Prof. Xiuyi Zhi, Director of the Science Dissemination Department, Prof. Zongwei Zhang, the Honorary Chairman of the Committee of Cancer Recovery, Prof. Anli Shi, Chairman of the Committee of Cancer Recovery, Mr. Xinguang Wang, Deputy Manager of Shanghai Roche Ltd. and major representatives of the Committee of Cancer Recovery from thirteen areas. The mass media, about fifty newspapers, Internet and TV stations, were invited the event.

　　President Xishan Hao delivered a speech on the ceremony. He pointed out that cancer has become a life-threatening disease worldwide especially in China. In order to take the arduous task of cancer control, medical workers should work together to make breakthrough in cancer control. At the same time, support from all levels of government, the mass media and people from all walks of life is indispensable, whose active participation will promote the sacred project. Life without cancer is a long-term goal. Since 2008, joint efforts made by the Bureau of Disease Control and Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) on “three-year plan of Chinese anti-cancer promotion” has achieved significant achievement---“Dialogue with hope” in 2008, “Hope in hand” in 2009 and “Passing hope” in 2010. In the past three years, the Hope Project---“Plan of Chinese Cancer Control Promotion”, led by the Bureau of Disease Control, made extraordinary accomplishments with efforts of the entire people. In 2011, the project of “Love sparks splendid life—bright future of Chinese cancer control”, supported by the Bureau of Disease Control and sponsored by CACA, will be launched, which will inherit the spirit of “Plan of Chinese Cancer Control Promotion”, and take some initiatives as well. Experts, patients and the press will be invited to partake in the project as usual. And furthermore, a lot of interesting activities will be carried out, such as “Anti-Cancer Family Star” and “The Most Touching Chinese Charity Night”.

　　Under the banner of “Love sparks splendid life”, the CACA would like to be hand in hand with people from all walks of life to advocate anti-cancer knowledge so that people will have a proper attitude towards cancer, and consultancy and direction will be provided to cancer patients. We believe that love will enable patients to toughen up their characters, and a splendid life may be harvested.

　　Chief Liangyou Wu spoke highly of “Dialogue with hope” in 2008, “Hope in hand” in 2009 and “Passing hope” in 2010, and expressed his full support to the new project launched in 2011. He highlighted the infinite power of it due to actions of the entire society.

　　Mr. Xinguang Wang, the Deputy Manager of Roche, expounded their company culture and ideas. In a word, hope will enable Roche to be a beacon for cancer patients. The General Secretary of CACA, Prof. Zhang delivered a retrospective speech about the education of scientific cancer control during the past three years. With a joint participation of all sides, such as the government, NGOs, medical workers and patients, etc, the project had wined its reputation with extraordinary achievement.

　　Prof. Xiuyi Zhi made a brief summary on the new project. He mentioned that not only cancer patients would be cared for, but also a scientific cancer control environment would be created so as to increase Chinese public’s awareness of anti-cancer.

　　When it comes to practice, the new project would revolve around two aspects—education and media promotion, which would be instrumental to a gradual development of it. Prof. Anli Shi introduced a project-related plan made by the Committee of Cancer Recovery of CACA.

　　Awards were presented to outstanding experts, Roche Ltd. and newspapers. Ms.Feng Wang, a breast cancer patient, was given a special gift as a benefiter of the three-year Hope project. The launching ceremony enjoyed a successful completion.
