Chinese Anti-Cancer Association paid a visit to Roche Ltd headquarters in Basel (Switzerland) on Feb. 28th, 2011, which is a complete success. The delegation is led by Professor Zhang Guangchao, secretary-general of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Professor Zhi Xiuyi, director of Popular Science Publicity Department for Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Professor Shi Lian, director of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association Rehabilitation Committee, Mr. Yuan Zhengping, vice director of the committee and Mrs. Qin Yin from Beijing Cancer Rehabilitation Association all took part in this visit.

　　Roche headquarters are in Basel Switzerland. It is a world’s leading heath utilities company developed on the basis of research and development and driven by creation. It is devoted to the fields of medicine and diagnosis, ranking the fifth in global pharmaceutical industry. The group led by Mrs. Roudabeh Valian, the head of Roche’s global public policy, extended a warm reception to Chinese Anti-Cancer Association delegation. In this visit, Dr. Stefan Frings, head of the Medicla Department of Roche’s global cancer field, introduced Roche’s history and its development at first. As the marketing leader of cancer treatment, series of anti-cancer medicines developed by Roche is also in the leading place in the world.

　　Mrs. Hannah Saul, manager of Roche’s international public policy and Laura Jakovljevic took part in the working conference. Mrs. Hannah Saul introduced Roche’s cooperation with international patient organizations at the global level, including UICC, European breast cancer, colorectal patient organizations and etc.. Mrs. Jean Mossman, senior consultant of Roche’s public policy and patient organization introduced the experience of the communication and cooperation conducted by European and other countries’ patient organizations with governments and relevant policy-makers, shared successful cases during her work in patient education organizations. Both sides had active exchanges.

　　The leader of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association gave an introduction of the experience and creation from the course of Chinese cancer patient organizations. With the aid of English homepage, general-secretary Zhang Guangchao presented the successful experience of the activities carried out by Chinese Anti-Cancer Association during the period of “World Cancer Day”—Feb. 4th, 2011, including creative activities with regard to drawing, cartoon, poems and articles as well as the selection of them, focusing on such main themes as scientific sun protection, healthy diet, moderate exercise and avoidance of passive smoking held in five middle schools in Tianjin, the popular science education of cancer prevention among teenagers, and various activities carried out by regional cancer rehabilitation organizations throughout China. Professor Zhi Xiuyi introduced popular science publicity activities focusing on cancer prevention held by Popular Science Department of Chinese Anti-Cancer Association. Director Shi Anli shared the experience of patient organizations’ operation and patient educational activities. Participants of Roche listened carefully to Chinese Anti-Cancer Association delegation’s introduction, speaking highly of its achievement in popular science publicity.
