2010 Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) Joint Conference was held in Lianyungang, Jiangsu Province from December 11th to 12th. Lu Daopei, Academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Shi Yan, Member of the Standing Committee of Lianyungang Municipal Party Committee and Vice Executive Mayor, attended the conference. Gao Guolan, Vice President of CACA, made an important speech. Zhang Guangchao, General Secretary of CACA, delivered a 2010 work summary and work report for 2011. Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, Committee of Tumor Marker (CTM-CACA) and Cancer Rehabilitation and Palliation Committee (CRPC) and Anti-Cancer Association in Zhejiang Province and in Guangzhou introduced their work experiences respectively. 2010 Advanced Committee, Advanced City and Provincial Anti-Cancer Association and Committee, City and Provincial Anti-Cancer Association Stars were selected and commended in this conference.

　　Gao Guolan, Vice President of CACA, pointed out in her speech that the main task of this conference was to seriously sum up the work of CACA in the past one year, discuss main work points of CACA in 2011, select and commend advanced committees and provincial anti-cancer associations in order to further strengthen the cohesion, vitality and independent development ability of the associations. “Under the direct leadership of China Association for Science and Technology and the Ministry of Health, in this year, CACA hosted The 21st World Cancer Congress, held The 6th Chinese Oncology Conference, held 49 international academic meetings, 46 national professional conferences and 226 regional conferences and ran 131 continuing education and medical programs. CACA undertook a number of scientific and technological services, actively promoted the reform and development of periodicals on oncology, unfolded extensive publicity of cancer popular science and further strengthened self-construction. Our work has achieved remarkable results,” she said, “facing new situation, we should conscientiously sum up experience and raise the work of CACA to a new level on a new starting point.”

　　On the basis of comprehensive summing up of the 2010 work of CACA, General Secretary Zhang Guangchao outlined for work in 2011. The first task was to uphold scientific innovation as main line to actively promote academic construction. CACA was going to hold The 13th Forum of China Association for Science and Technology, make preparations for The 7th Chinese Oncology Conference, extensively unfold professional regional academic activities and actively promote the development of periodicals on oncology. The second task was to promote international exchanges and cooperation in science and technology. CACA would attend The 21st Asia-Pacific Cancer Conference (APCC) and The 10th Oncology Academic Exchanges on Both Sides of the Taiwan Strait to expand exchanges and cooperation with foreign organizations and strengthen the work of UICC China Spoke. The third task was to actively develop scientific consultation service. CACA would continue its commitment of “Breast Cancer Screening Project” and Cancer Clinical Trials of scientific and technological service projects. It would seize the beginning of the 12th five-year plan to actively participate in the formulation of the development plan of national and local cancer prevention and control, thus to contribute to the economic and social development. The fourth task was to develop popular science propaganda of cancer. CACA should put its best foot forward for the World Cancer Day Event and National Cancer Week, organize Popular Science Propaganda activities of “Wonderful Life—Path to Anti-Cancer Hope Project” and adhere to popular science propaganda system to expand its audience and social influence. The fifth task was to provide dedicated service to the members. CACA would elaborately organize medical continuing education, start The Second Scientific Awards of the CACA, run the Website well and actively develop new members, communicate with the members and provide dedicated service to them. The sixth task was to strengthen the self-construction of the association. CACA would adhere to democratic system, organize related professional committees to do regular elections, push core members of cancer institutes to take leading roles and continue developing the selection of Advanced Groups and Professional Committees and Provincial Anti-Cancer Association Stars. Since the second half of next year, CACA would start preparations for The 7th Congress of CACA.

　　Zhang Jing, Head of the Organization Department of CACA, reported the online selection of Advanced Professional Committees and Provincial Anti-Cancer Association Stars and carried out on-site vote and selection in the conference. CRPC, CTM and Committee of Esophageal Cancer were rated Professional Committee Stars. CTM, Committee of Colorectal Cancer, Committee of Tumor Minimally Invasive Therapy, Committee of Intervention Cured Tumor, Committee of Esophageal Cancer, CRPC, Committee of Head and Neck Carcinoma and Committee of Tumor Pathology were rated Advanced Professional Committees. Anti-Cancer Association in Zhejiang, Fujian and Henan Province were rated Provincial Anti-Cancer Association Stars. Anti-Cancer Association in Zhejiang, Fujian, Heilongjiang, Guangdong, Shaanxi, Liaoning and Henan Province were rated Advanced Provincial Associations. Guangzhou Anti-Cancer Association was awarded Special Contribution Prize in recognition of its excellent organizing work in The 21st World Cancer Conference.

　　People present at the conference focused on discussions on the work of CACA in 2011 for which they put forward quite many good suggestions. They also showed their willingness to learn from the advanced groups to create a new situation.

　　Zhao Wenhua, Director of Scientific Awards Office, made an introduction about Scientific Awards of the CACA and delivered a deployment for the recommendation for The Second Scientific Awards.

　　This conference was hosted by Jiangsu Heng Rui Medicine Co., Ltd. Zhou Yunshu, General Manager, and Zhang Yongqiang, Deputy General Manager of the company, were invited to attend this conference. The participants visited the company and its production base in Lianyungang, praising its enterprise concept and rapid development of scientific research and production. Xuan Dongsheng, Director Assistant of CACA, Liu Duanqi, Deputy Secretary General, and other more than 80 Directors of professional committees, Chairmen and Secretaries of provincial anti-cancer associations attended the conference. It was also the member event in 2010.
