On September 3, 2010 “Passing Hopes” Project- Standardizing Diagnosis and Treatment Press Conference was held in Beijing. The event is co-hosted by the Ministry of Health Disease Prevention and Control and the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA), sponsored by Shanghai Roche Pharmaceutical Ltd. Co. Professor Zhang Guangchao, the Secretary of the CACA, Professor Shi Yuankai, the Head of the Academic Department of CACA and the Vice-Principal of Committee of Lymphoma, Professor Zhu Xiongzeng, the Honorary Director of the Committee of Lymphoma, Jiang Wenqi, the Director of the Committee of Lymphoma, Drs. Zhu Jun, Wang Huaqing, and Zhang Mingzhi, the Vice-Directors of the Committee of Lymphoma and Mr. Lv Wen, the CEO of Shanghai Roche Pharmaceutical Ltd. Co. attended the event. Over 30 main stream media are invited to join the press conference.

　　The General Secretary Professor Zhang Guangchao stated that lymphoma is becoming the fast growing incidence of malignant tumors in the world today. For example, there are over 350,000 new cases and over 200,000 patients dead every year. In China, the number of new lymphoma reaches 25,000 each year and it has already become the most life-threatening disease in urban areas. However, extensive training on standardized diagnosis and treatment of malignant lymphoma haven’t been widely spreaded to professionals in China and the knowledge of lymphoma hasn’t been widely public educated compared with lung cancer, stomach cancer, and hepatitis. Therefore, how can we increase public awareness of malignant lymphoma and how can we diagnose, treat, and manage patients on the right track are becoming challenging issues which need urgent actions to be taken. The launching activity of “Standardizing the Diagnosis and Treatment of Malignant Lymphoma” kicked off the event “7th International Malignant Lymphoma Day”. The purpose of the project is to promote standardization of lymphoma treatments and provide a platform between doctors and lymphoma patients in order to help patients to be positive in conquering cancer.

　　The Committee of Malignant Lymphoma of CACA highly concentrates on this significant event. The leadership and experts joined the event. They discussed the classification, development, diagnose and treatment principles of malignant lymphoma and answered questions to media. Professor Jiang Wenqi presented detailed information about diagnosis and treatment of malignant lymphoma. Lymphoma Management Project started in June, 2010 and aimed at improving and regulating clinical diagnose and treatment for clinical doctors. Early diagnosis and treatment regulations are crucial, the awareness of public concerning preventing and treating malignant lymphoma is equally important.

　　Currently, the quality of lymphoma networks still needs to be improved in China. The Committee of Malignance Lymphoma of CACA has long time devoted efforts to regulating the field of lymphoma diagnosis and treatment. The project “Standardizing Diagnosis and Treatment of Malignant Lymphoma” provides more opportunities to patients to realize what malignant lymphoma is and how they can be treated. Simultaneously, the committee will create a professional lymphoma website, club, recovery class in hospital, hotline services, to enable patients share experiences, encouraging patients to be strong in cancer treatment. At last, Mr. Lv Wen, the CEO of Shanghai Roche Pharmaceutical Ltd. CO., pointed out that Roche will continuously provide supports to the lymphoma project and Chinese anti-cancer career.
