A delegation from the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association (CACA) led by Prof. Hao Xishan, President of the CACA participated in the 20th Asia Pacific Cancer Conference (APCC) on November 12-14 in Tsukuba, Japan with significant achievements.
The APCC is the main activity of the Asia and Pacific Federation of Organization for Cancer Research and Control (APFOCC) which is held biennially in Asia and Pacific Region since 1973. The aim of the conference is to facilitate, coordinate, and promote cancer research, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as to contribute to the improvement and availability of cancer health care in the Asia Pacific region. In 1991, the CACA hosted the 10th APCC in Beijing with a successful result. At the Executive Council Meeting of the APFOCC and the General Assembly Meeting, the CACA won the bidding for hosting the 22nd Asia and Pacific Cancer Conference in 2013 in Tianjin, China.

In recognition of great contribution has been achieved by Prof. Hao in fighting against cancer, the 20th APCC awarded Dr. Hao as the winner of “Jin-Pok Kim Memorial Lecture Prize” for his dedicating on cancer control not only in China but also internationally. This prestigious award was selected among 32 renowned candidates in Asia and Pacific Region. The awarding ceremony was held during the opening ceremony of the 20th APCC.
Prof. Hao Xishan was also invited to deliver two lectures during the conference. The topic on “Breast cancer epidemiology and prevention in china” was made at the Culture and Cancer Session as the J-P Kim Memorial Lecture which introduced the breast cancer control activities and the program on breast cancer screening in China. Besides, Dr.Hao gave another lecture on “The challenges of cancer prevention in China” at the Asian Cancer Forum. moreover, Dr.Hao made another contribution to the conference by chairing the Keynote lecture.
Together with the leadership of the International Union Against Cancer (UICC) and the World Health Organization (WHO), Dr. Hao was interviewed on the issue of global health by Japanese medical media.
